The Compression Garment

The purpose of the compression garment (Faja) or wrap is to compress the area of Tumescent Liposuction and or Fat Transfer. We alter and sew the compression garments right here in our office immediately as the needs arise.

We always want to make sure that the compression garments are fitting appropriately. We want the garments to be smooth, tight, and with no creases. Without compression, you’re not going to get a good result.

You should have no pain. You should feel almost perfectly normal after the procedure when your compression garment is worn appropriately and effectively. If you have pain or discomfort, you need to call to come in to our clinic to adjust your garment and to address your symptoms. Usually, when we adjust the garment, within 5 minutes the patient feels much better, completely fine and without pain.

If you are having pain or discomforts and you are not coming in and telling us, it’s possible you may have an infection. We are very strict on infection risks and the avoidance of infections.

Many patients ask when they may stop wearing the garment. For two weeks solid, day & night, following your procedure, it’s important to have your compression garment on. After that, it depends on your results and how you’re looking. We do not allow any rolls, those rolls need to be compressed flat. We do not allow any crinkly skin. The skin needs to be peeled; it needs to conform and be smooth up against the body. We do not allow a lot of visceral fat. We want our patients to go down to their ideal body weight as they are designed to be. The garment needs to be worn until we meet all of these goals.
