About Lipedema Treatment

Lipedema is a chronic condition involving abnormal fat accumulation, most often in the legs and arms. During an evaluation, your physician reviews your history and discusses whether tumescent liposuction may be an option for you. Liposuction is not a cure for lipedema; for many patients it may help reduce symptoms or volume in affected areas. Whether it is appropriate is decided at your consultation.

The procedure is performed under sedation with tumescent local anesthesia, not general anesthesia. Potential risks and typical recovery are discussed in detail before treatment. Individual results vary.
